Governor Palin: With a Stiff Spine America Must Stand Against Obamacare

Sunday, March 14, 2010

Via Facebook:
If Senator Reid, Speaker Pelosi, and President Obama get their way, soon our country will be changed forever. Using every partisan parliamentary trick in the book (including some they invented just last week), Washington’s Left intends to ram through their takeover of our health care system regardless of the consequences.

The latest twists and turns in the Obamacare drama seem almost surreal. One minute the Democrat leadership is trying to amend a bill before the president has even signed it into law, and the next minute they’re trying to draft a new rule that will allow the House to “deem” a bill passed without actually voting on it! They’re determined to use the Senate reconciliation process as a parliamentary trick to bypass the regular voting procedure (and by the way, to add insult to injury, they’re now going to ram through federalization of America’s student loan industry with this same reconciliation vote). Is there any other wildly unpopular legislation they’d also like to sneak in? Perhaps the anti-energy-independence policy “Cap and Tax” (aka Cap and Trade) is next?

And make no mistake, the Obamacare bill is wildly unpopular. The Democrats’ own pollsters warn of an “unmitigated disaster” for them in November if they don’t abandon their plan and start over with real incremental health care reform. Incredibly, at this point, they don’t seem to care. Speaker Pelosi thinks Congress must pass the bill so that the American people can then “find out what’s in it.” We know what’s in it. We don’t want it. The Democrats will take short-term electoral losses in exchange for long-term radical change of the United States of America. They assume we’ll come to accept this new intrusion of government once we’re stuck with it. That’s why we can’t concede this battle. Americans must stiffen our spines and stand against this action that violates the will of the people with centralized government mandates and crippling costs.

Republicans in Congress are holding the line, and some Democrats are standing with them. Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI) said he won’t vote for the Senate bill if federal funding of abortion is included. Last Friday, he told National Review Online that some Democrats have told him that if abortions aren’t covered in Obamacare then “more children will be born, and therefore it will cost us millions more…Money is their hang-up. Is this how we now value life in America?” As I wrote in my first post on this topic, human rights and human dignity must be at the center of any health care discussion. Government health care will not reduce the cost of medical care; it will simply refuse to pay it. And who will get left behind when they have to ration care to save money?

Please ask yourself: who will be left behind? And who will decide – what kind of panel will decide – who receives the health care that government will obviously have to ration?

There’s a great deal of pressure being put on Stupak’s pro-life Democrats. They’re already dwindling in number. Their party is threatening them, and so are powerful SEIU labor union bosses. The Democrats respecting the sanctity of life have every incentive to buckle under the pressure, so they need to know that we’ll support them if they do the right thing and vote no on Obamacare.

Please take the time to get involved in the debate this week. There are many grassroots efforts under way. There will be a march on Washington on Tuesday, March 16th (see here for details). Rep. Michele Bachmann has a “Kill the Bill” online petition that you can sign here. Most importantly, contact members of Congress and offer your support if they do the right thing.

We know we’ll beat them at the ballot box, but we have to kill this bill before November. This is the final push. We must stand up and stand together one last time to insist on true market-oriented, patient-centered health care reform that reflects America’s values and the will of the people.

Tick-tock, Tick-tock... Do You Know What Time It Is?

Saturday, January 2, 2010

“And of the children of Issachar, men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do…” (I Chronicles 12:32)

Never would I describe myself as a great theologian, a professor of God fascinated with historical events of Biblical proportions. I’m far from it. My faith is rather simple. God said it. I believe it. Jesus did it. I receive it. That settles it.

But somewhere along the way of my private personal pursuit of God and all things Holy, the twelve tribes of Israel and their various identities caught my interests. One tribe in particular had a unique identity. The Tribe of Issacher were men who understood the times which gave them great wisdom and knowledge (I Chronicles 12:32). They were aware of what was going on in their day and in their lives, but they also knew what to do about it.

The timing of God is KNOWING and DOING. Once you know His plans and purposes for your life, you can confidently go forward putting them into action. He will make you time sensitive so you can cooperate with His guidance.

I remember reading a story that came out of the hippie era at Haight-Asbury in San Francisco about an overdosed young man who wrapped an alarm clock around his arm with duct tape. All it had was twelve numerals and a face but no working parts. People would stop him and say, “Hey, what time is it”? He would stare at the clock and say, “It’s RIGHT NOW man, that’s what time it is!”

The time is RIGHT NOW for we who support Governor Palin. Like the Tribe of Issacher, we are aware of America’s time and we know what to do about it. We know what is taking place on Capitol Hill, and We the People are the voices (and votes) needed to steer our nation toward conservative principles such as smaller government and energy independence.

It is 2010… a new year, a new day, a new beginning. We have the opportunity this year to stop that out-of-control liberal socialist machine during the mid-term elections. Purpose in your heart to stand up for our nation alongside Governor Palin by letting your voice and vote be heard. Don’t sit on the sidelines. Get in the game! The time is NOW.

Pipeline Progress in Canada

Wednesday, December 30, 2009

via the American Thinker:

Today the final Canadian government report was released which reviewed the proposed natural gas pipeline from the Beaufort Sea, north of Alaska through Canada's Northwest Territories. It took 3 years and $16 Million for this study on the Mackenzie Valley pipeline to be completed and approved in Canada.

This is the same pipeline that Alaska was waiting for, as it will run Alaska natural gas to hook into the Canadian pipeline system and then run south to locations in Canada and the USA.

If the Alaska gas is channeled into this pipeline, then it would have to be bigger in diameter by about 50 percent with the huge amount of natural gas that Alaska wants to ship south over the next 5o years.

This is related to the same contract that Sarah Palin signed just a few weeks before she was picked to run as vice president with Senator John McCain in august 2008.

The price of the Alaska portion of the line was at least $24 billion U.S., but that price was 5 years ago.

Kerry renames the GOP

Tuesday, December 15, 2009

Dear xxx,

Think GOP obstruction is bad now? Just imagine what Washington would look like if a bunch of new senators ? inspired by Sarah Palin and the tea party crowd ? took over.

If you think this movement is more circus sideshow than actual threat, you'd be mistaken. Republican candidates are falling all over each other to get Palin's endorsement, and the tea party movement is responding. Money is pouring in.

Either we match the passion and activism of these new forces in the Republican Party, or they'll be choosing who's sitting in the Senate, steering our country's course. If we don't match them
dollar-for-dollar, we will lose Senate seats in 2010. And the loss of even one or two would flip crucial votes in their favor and doom President Obama's agenda.

In case you doubt the seriousness of this situation, here are a couple of examples:

Republican Senate candidates, including Mark Kirk of Illinois, are actively seeking Sarah Palin's endorsement and they are disavowing their own past positions, contorting themselves to appeal to the new Sarah Palin Republicans (emphasis mine). They know that if they receive her blessing, the money will follow.

The leading GOP Senate candidate in Connecticut, Rob Simmons, has been running around the state with a tea bag hanging from his rearview mirror, and he carries a copy of the United States Constitution with a tea bag attached. Such tactics might seem silly. But they're working.

These are not fringe candidates ? but they are increasingly pandering to the fringe to curry support. If they win, they will be doing the bidding of Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and their legions of fans. The best chance we've had in generations to make positive change
will have ended.

Donate to the DSCC. Every dollar you give will help build the grassroots organizations we need to support our incumbents, challenge ridiculous attacks and get each and every Democrat to the polls. It's the kind of effort we need to keep America moving in the right direction.

I know better than most what these Republicans are capable of ? and the high cost of not taking immediate action. It's not too late to stop them from derailing the President's agenda. But we need your help ? and today is not a moment too soon.

Sincerely,

Sen. John Kerry

My Response:

The United States, as we knew it, is not the same today. Americans had better work very hard to make changes we can believe in.
Our money and energy MUST support new voices and faces on the Hill and in the White House.

Because Sarah did such an outstanding job here in Alaska, who better to lead all Americans to make the needed changes?

My money, energy and bets are on massive changes for 2010 and 2012. Don't count out us, the people of the US, in your equation of the solutions needed. We may not be elite, but we are the enlightened.

ONE YEAR LATER: "WHAT WAS INTENDED FOR EVIL WILL IN SOME WAY BE USED FOR GOOD"

One Year Later: Fire at Wasilla Bible Church Wasn’t Arson – It Was The Attempted Murder of Women and Children!

A year ago someone set fire to Gov Sarah Palin's home church: The Wasilla Bible Church.
Today, the arsonist (or arsonists) is still out there. But the attack was MUCH more than arson:
It was an act of attempted murder and a monstrous crime.

The arson/attempted murder was started Dec 12, 2008, about 9:30 p.m. Alaska time. The reported temperature outside at the time of the blaze was -20 below zero. Inside the church were a small group of 5 women and 2 children working on a crafts project according to Mat-Su Fire Chief James Steele. Providentially, all made it out safely.

It took fire crews until 5 a.m. to fully extinquish the blaze. Damage estimates were 1.5 million dollars.
The emotional trauma of the victims, though, couldn't be estimated.

Governor Palin arrived later at the scene and apologized if the fire was connected to "undeserved attention" received from the 2008 campaign as the Republican vice presidential candidate.

"Somebody lit a match and God came back with a whole lot of grace,"commented Pastor Larry Kroon on the outpouring of support and contributions.

Facts:

1) The crime was the attempted murder of women and children.

There were 5 women and 2 children in the church at the time the blaze was started. It was obvious to the arsonist(s) that the church was occupied. There were cars parked near the front entrance and lights were on inside the building.

2) An official report states that a fire accelerant was found to have been “poured on and around the outside of the Wasilla Bible Church in multiple places,” and spread across EVERY ONE of the exits in an attempt to prevent escape of the victims. This was an obvious attempt to injure or murder anyone who was inside.

3) Its likely there was more than one arsonist as it would have been near impossible for only one person to spread the accelerant around multiple exits around a 35,000 sq foot building without help (especially in minus-20 below temperatures with snow on the ground.)

4) The phone wires and both fire alarm and water system wires were cut by the arsonist(s) from inside the building. Again proving that the arsonist(s) knew the building was occupied.

I pose these questions:

1) This was a well-planned and executed attempt to harm or murder. Were the arsonist(s) mere amateurs or professional arsonists?

2) Can you imagine the media outcry if arson were suspected to have caused a million dollars worth of arson damage to President Obama's old Trinity United Church Of Christ (and the church of Rev. Jeremiah Wright?)

3) Do you think this would have led the news on every LSM outlet for months?

4) Was this arson/attempted homicide used to tear down Sarah Palin in the name of politics, power, and money?

5) Was this church arson 'just' collateral damage in an attempt to attack Palin herself?

Both The Huffington Post ("Palin's Church may have shaped Controversial World View") and The Daily Kos ( "Sarah Palin: Dominionist Stalking Horse." ) spewed innuendo-filled articles in the immediate months preceding the blaze attacking both Governor Palin AND the Wasilla Bible Church. Hate begets hate. Dress it up in fancy words and engage in the gymnastics of logic, but it is still just as detestable.

WHATEVER the goal of the arsonist(s)...It did not (and will not) succeed. Several days after the blaze, a spokesperson for Governor Palin issued this statement: "Whatever the motives of the arsonist, the Governor has faith in the scriptural passage that what was intended for evil will in some way be used for good."

-Amen To That.

3 am Cold Sweats

Friday, November 27, 2009

"It's three o'clock in the morning, we've danced the whole nig....", wait, that isn't what this post is about!

Much was made of Hillary Clinton's rather challanging statement that Barack Obama would not know what to do when (not if) the phone rang at 3am.

Later, when Sarah Palin began posting on her Facebook page, the punsters decided the 3am call would be to inform the POTUS of yet another posting by Sarah Palin.

I feel no president should be able to rest peacefully all through the night UNLESS:
*Everyone who wants a job has one
*No one's taxes are more than is comfortable for them to pay
*Every child has access to the school of their choice without breaking the backs of their parents
*Not one soldier is held hostage by this country due to the manner in which they performed their duty protecting this country
*Every country recognizes our country is the greatest power
*Our country is energy independent with oil, coal and gas being delivered from our own sources, not overseas
*Our borders are secure and all illegal aliens have been returned home
*The TERRORISTS are being tried in Military Court at Guantánamo

I would like to posit a very good reason for sleepless nights for Barack Obama. I imagine he awakens quite often in a cold sweat, fearful that everyone will (finally) discover that the job of President of the United States really IS above his pay-grade.

He can not speak without two teleprompters. He has no clue of proper etiquette when meeting foreign dignitaries. His first commitment is not to us, the people of the United States, rather he is a toady to foreign dictators. He is a fraud from his styrofoam Greek columns to the faux "oval office" seen ad nauseum before he was sworn in. Voting "present" is a good indicator he had no clue what the vote was for or the impact of his vote. Every move he makes is a photo-op. There is nothing genuine about the man.

While I now see the occasional softening of attitudes against Sarah Palin by the LSM, I also see Fox pulling some of the same kowtowing to the POTUS. This morning I heard the stock market was on a 'deadly' downward spiral. To verify the radio report I turned the TV to CNBC just in time to hear that Dubai was asking for a 6 month suspension of repayment of their loans. I turned to Fox to get more of the story, again just in time for BREAKING NEWS.... The White House Christmas Tree Just Arrived!

Is it 2012 yet?

Going Rogue, Rochester, NY: Part V -- Egg Attack

No Better Than the Book Burners of Old

The impact of the egg striking the stack of books resounded like a gunshot in the nearly empty Borders. I was behind the display stack talking with Kristina, Kate and Rachelle. JD had already gone home. Adrienne and I had our backs turned. Adrienne was right next to the display stack, which was in the center of the store as you walked in the front door.

Following the sound, I heard a voice proclaim, "Sorry I didn't hit you Sarah!" The egg thrower then sauntered out of the store as if victory was his. I ran toward the stack and saw several books covered in yolk and egg white. Adrienne's outfit was splattered too...collateral damage from his attack.

I screamed out to the Borders staff..."get him...he destroyed several of Sarah's books, and Adrienne's been hit!" The staff told me they'd take care of it...don't get involved! I waited...and I took pictures of the damage:

Photography by Ron Devito: Note the wet spot on the carpet and the egg shells. These books were located behind Governor Palin's display.

Throw the Book at Him?

The egg thrower was caught and arrested. He came to realize that his form of "political protest" did not exactly serve him well. Borders chose not to prosecute him, because he opted to pay for all the destroyed copies of Going Rogue. In essence, this brilliant Obama Kool Aid drinker now bought the largest number of copies of Going Rogue for a single customer in the entire day!

Also ironic and providential: Governor Palin was accused of trying to ban books as Mayor of Wasilla...except for one minor detail: the books she was accused of trying to ban did not even exist at the time. But, book banning is a lie Obama's followers continue to perpetuate. Adrienne Ross risked her job to protest a display at her school perpetuating this falsehood.

Ironic that this man wanted to not just ban...but destroy Governor Palin's book....and since he indicated that the egg was intended for Governor Palin herself, I was loudly pushing for him to be prosecuted...but Borders accepted reimbursement. Now it was up to Adrienne.

Mercy and Forgiveness? Or Pursue a Pyrrhic Victory?

The arresting officer told Adrienne, she had a choice to make. Prosecute him for criminal mischief and harassment; which meant she would have to stay the night, then drive four hours from her home each way to be present at his trial...or have him released.

I was pushing for prosecution. Kristina and Kate calmed me down and told me to defer to Adrienne -- it was after all her decision to make....and they were right. It was her decision.

Adrienne chose the path of mercy and declined to press charges. She did not pursue him for the soiled outfit...she wanted nothing more to do with him...rightfully so.

Farewell Dinner

Our tired band of Rogues went to Uno's right across from Borders to have our farewell dinner. We discussed the incident...the pros and cons of prosecution. For a few minutes, we wondered if the right thing was done not pressing charges. "Sorry, I didn't hit you, Sarah" played in my head over and over again like a broken record. Could he be motivated to attempt to harm her in some way later on? Would Borders' and Adrienne's act of mercy embolden him? Conversely, what was to be gained by Adrienne prosecuting him for harassment? To appear before a judge and say "this man harassed me as a byproduct of destroying several copies of Going Rogue"? With the primary case disposed of, there really was little point in pursuing it further.

Finally, the conversation shifted to more joyful subject matter -- some related to Governor Palin, some of it not. We enjoyed our meals and conversation.

It was nearly midnight. We all exchanged hugs and the band of Rogues broke up. Having Gone Rogue, now it was time to Go Home.

Entertainment Tonight and Hamburg TV Station

I did a media interview with Entertainment Tonight. The reporter was very friendly. He asked me to explain why I supported Governor Palin -- and why I would wait over 24 hours to see her. "I support her Reagan Conservatism, her positions on the Second Amendment and oil drilling. I admire her 17 years of executive experience and Transformational Leadership. We have not seen a leader like this in 150 years." Do you want her to to run for President in 2012?, he asked. "YES! I believe she was summoned to carry Reagan's torch. But I will support her no matter the path she chooses," I said. We agreed to do a second interview after the signing. The first interview was completed at 1516 EST. My second interview with Entertainment Tonight took place at 1759 EST.

The same questions were asked in my interview with the Hamburg, Germany with my responses mirroring what was said to Entertainment Tonight. The Hamburg interview was completed at 1656 EST.

Ron Devito Going Rogue with Governor Palin

Finally, the time had come. I deposited my jacket and gift card on the table. I threw Adrienne a salute and passed her the books to give to Governor Palin. It was Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the seventeenth hour and the fortieth minute.

"Governor Palin...Sarah....it's nice to see you again." We locked eyes...she shook my hand, said "Hi, what's your name." "I'm Ron Devito, from Staten Island. You signed my heart in Pennsylvania." She smiled...I could tell she remembered. "I like your buttons," she said. But...I saw her looking at the Palin Power button, I had been selling. Pointing to the button, I said, "Today, I prototyped this one. And I will be giving it to you in the gift box. It is yours." "Thank you," Governor Palin said. It was time to leave....I turned back...."It was nice to see you again" -- followed by a pregnant pause -- "my President." She ended the conversation with a final thank you and I took my signed books.

There was no time for personalization, and for collectors, non-personalized signed books are worth more money (mine is NOT for sale at any price). My fleeting time with Governor Palin went by faster than a Concorde flying overhead at Mach 2.2.

When SarahPAC photographer Shealah Craighead releases the photos, I will acquire. She may or may not grant me permission to post, but I will ask.

I went to the main shopping area, finished off the gift card and took what was now Governor Palin's property off my heart, put it in with the card, sealed it and left it and went outside to work the crowd, and wait for my colleagues....

Photography: Ron Devito. Sally Heath, with whom I shook hands and had two brief conversations. When I told her I'm from Staten Island, her eyes lit up. "We worked on Fresh Kills." "I know...it's only 8 miles from my house." We exchanged some pleasantries, and then I said, "Your daughter is going to make history."

Photography: Ron Devito. Chuck and Sally Heath announce to the overflow crowd that Governor Palin will sign their books. Mrs. Heath hugs a supporter. Photo re-touched to remove red-eye.

From the Outside Looking In

Having had my books signed and awaiting my colleagues...we were going to eat dinner together after the signing, I took some potshots with the camera of Governor Palin signing books....

Photography: Ron Devito. A shot of Governor Palin with the back of her head facing the window. Piper Palin is to her right.

Photography Ron Devito. Profile view of Governor Palin.

From Going Bust to Going Rogue

As the evening progressed, jubilant supporters emerged with their signed books. One small boy was ecstatic: "she touched me! She actually touched me." The little child wasn't expecting Governor Palin to shake his hand. JD Merkel returned after the Heaths' announcements. I told him to get on that line NOW....his book was going to be signed....JD went Rogue, not Bust after all....

Farewell

Governor Palin and her staff left through the back of the store, they same way they entered. I ran to try to see her along with the crowd, but only saw the motorcade pull away. The store re-opened, the crowd dispersed, and I went to meet with my colleagues. We were all exhausted and hungry. Governor Palin had been gone 15 minutes, when an ugly act of hatred unfolded....an act reminiscent of the days not of banning books, but of burning them...

Sarah Palin: Cancer Screenings: Rational Advice or Rationed Care?

Friday, November 20, 2009

Following is the complete transcript of Governor Palin's Facebook post on cancer screenings, why cancers specific to women receive sub-standard attention, and the relation of screenings to the current health care debate:

It was a breath of fresh air to finally hear the Democrats admit to their health care bill as “a lot of show and tell and razzmatazz,” (see Democrat talking points, in reference to my book). At least now we’re all on the same page when discussing the problems with their monstrous government health care “reform” plan (Palin, 2009, ¶1).

Now, tonight, more disconcerting news – the New York Times reports of new guidelines to scale back cervical cancer screenings. The recommendation from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists comes on the heels of another recommendation to limit breast cancer screenings with mammograms. There are many questions unanswered for me, but one which immediately comes to mind is whether costs have anything to do with these recommendations. The current health care debate elicits great concern because of its introduction of socialized medicine in America and the inevitable rationed care. We need to carefully watch this debate as it coincides with Capitol Hill’s debate and determine whether we are witnessing the early stages of that rationed care before the Senate bill is rushed through as well (Palin, 2009, ¶2).

Another question is why these women-focused cancers are seemingly receiving substandard attention at a time when proactive health and fitness should be the message. Every woman should encourage rigorous debate to ensure that our collective voices are heard. We are paying attention to Washington’s health care proposals, and we want to hear what helps patients the most (Palin, 2009, ¶3).

We need answers: Is early screening not saving lives? Why do doctors’ groups disagree? Did costs play any role in these decisions to change the recommendations on breast and cervical cancer screenings? We need assurances that everything we’ve heard this week about fewer tests for women’s cancers is a result of patient-focused research and providing the best care for the right reasons, and not because of bureaucratic pressure to control costs (Palin, 2009, ¶4).

Obviously the first thought that comes to mind when hearing of these new recommendations from bureaucratic panels is “rationed care.” It’s fair – and healthy – to ask if that’s what Washington has in mind with a government-controlled takeover of a health care system (Palin, 2009, ¶5).

Following is the complete transcript of Governor Palin's Facebook post with a photo spread from the Going Rogue Book Tour:

The first three stops on the Going Rogue book tour have been exhilarating (Palin, 2009, ¶1)!

I am humbled by the outpouring of support and have so enjoyed meeting and hearing from such great Americans in Michigan and Indiana. Our next three stops will keep us in the Heartland, and we hope that you can make it to one of our events in Cincinnati or Columbus, Ohio; or Washington, Pennsylvania (Palin, 2009, ¶2).

Enjoy the pictures and go rogue with us (Palin, 2009, ¶3)!

Sarah Palin: Go Rogue with the Rest of Us!

Following is the complete transcript of Governor Palin's Facebook post announcing the second half of her Going Rogue Book Tour:

Details of the second half of the Going Rogue book tour (Palin, 2009, ¶1)!

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in every stop on the tour, but I'm especially looking forward to meeting our brave men and women in uniform at Fort Hood. I'm joining the efforts of many others by donating my royalties from the book sales during our stop at Fort Hood to the families of the victims whose lives have been forever changed by the tragic events of November 5th. I am humbled to be able to join the larger effort called "Community Response to 11/5," which was established by the Central Texas-Fort Hood Chapter of the Association of the US Army (AUSA). You can read more about their great efforts here: http://www.forthoodausa.org/ (Palin, 2009, ¶2).

As I mentioned last week, I'm going back on Twitter, so you can follow our path on SarahPalinUSA. Below are dates, times, and locations of the venues that I'll be referencing. Some other stops are still to be determined. Please contact each venue for more information. I'll see you soon (Palin, 2009, ¶3)!

Sarah Palin: Multi-Part Interview with Barbara Walters

Tuesday, November 17, 2009

Following is the complete transcript of Governor Palin's Facebook Note pertaining to her multi-part interview with Barbara Walters:

Had a great conversation today with Barbara Walters regarding America’s special needs community. Her compassion for those who some in our society see as “less than perfect” comes from personal experience as she was so close to her sister. Barbara wrote lovingly about her sister in her #1 bestselling memoir titled, Audition. Barbara and I even attempted to interview Trig during this segment, but he was about as patient through the interview as any other one-and-a-half-year-old child! I appreciate Barbara highlighting America’s special needs community. The beautiful heart of our country shines when we embrace these precious ones. Knowing of their unconditional love and need for our embrace reminds me every day of what really matters in this world (Palin, 2009, ¶1).

Mainstream Media Misrepresentation a Pattern

On November 16, 2009, Governor Palin posted a brief Facebook note pertaining to sexist misrepresentation of her by Newsweek Magazine. The link to the post is in the reference list, and the complete transcript was posted by Whitney the Pipsqueak directly below this entry.

Commentary:

Unfortunately, mainstream media misrepresentation of Governor Palin takes many flavors, but sexism is a recurring theme and the principal weapon in the mainstream media's ongoing war against her. This is part of a well-established pattern. This screen shot (thank you to colleague Stacy for providing the information) illustrates the point.

Exhibit A: Screenshot of USA Today Online article by David Jackson featuring parody cover of Going Rogue and showing that cover as being Governor Palin's book. The real book is Going Rogue: An American Life and shows Governor Palin with Hatcher Pass as the backdrop. The parody changes "life" to "nightmare" and shows Governor Palin against a backdrop of black thunderclouds in an attempt to portray her as some sort of "wicked witch."

The headline of the article is a naked attempt at building a case that Governor Palin is "not qualified" to be President. Governor Palin's track record of accomplishment is well-known for anyone who cares to read. She is more than qualified to be President of the United States, and orders of magnitude more qualified than the current holder of the title.

As a reminder to professional reporters who cover Governor Palin on their beats, they might want to consider the following as they ply their trades:

Magnification and Resolution

Saturday, November 14, 2009

Maybe it was the endorphins pulsating through my body as I sped to nowhere Friday afternoon on a stationary bike in the company’s fitness center, or perhaps it was the forbidden pieces of chocolate I savored earlier in the day. Whatever the culprit, a single photograph featured in the Washingtonian caught my eye as together the periodical and I raced toward the weekend.

Follow:

American author Mark Twain once said, “Hawaii is the loveliest fleet of islands that lies anchored in any ocean”. No one would argue with Twain that the Hawaiian Islands’ tropical weather, low humidity and infrequent severe storms make it a traveler’s dream destination. Hawaii not only boasts of its great beauty but also claims to be the birthplace of Barack Obama.

By contrast, Alaska’s majestic mountain peaks and rugged topography covered with glaciers, countless rivers and lakes, huge tracks of forested land, and over 34,000 miles of tidal shoreline is beauty personified. Alaska is a constant adventure for those that live there, and for those fortunate enough (or smart enough) to travel there, it often proves to be their most exhilarating and worthwhile adventure. The Last Frontier is the beloved home of Sarah Palin, the youngest and the first female governor of that state, and is like no other place on our planet.

No doubt these two states are uniquely and breathtakingly beautiful, but under a microscope the resolution of their great beauty becomes a study in contrasts. Their magnification and resolution prove to be an eerily accurate characterization of their most famous residents.

Take a look at this photo from National Geographic. Believe it or not, this is the magnification of a dipperful of Hawaiian seawater. Describing the photo, journalist Jennifer S. Holland, writes, “Gelatinous shape-shifters lazily ride the currents (dead fish going with the flow). Familiar [and unfamiliar] forms — wide-eyed fish larvae, baby squid and octopuses—dart liberally (left wing radicals). Their lives are precarious (reckless decisions). Some wear shells (disguises) or exude toxins (media malpractice) against enemies (Main Street America); others are active only after dark (opaque government).” Even the name of the photograph is telling- The Secret Life [of Marine Microfauna].

No two alike? According to Discover, physicist Kenneth Libbrecht says it’s essentially impossible for any two ice crystals to have the exact same molecular structure (unique and one of a kind). He claims that, “Out of all the complex (smart, intelligent, quick study) snow crystals ever made over the history of the planet, it’s unlikely that any two ever looked completely alike (unprecedented). The elaborate branching structure indicates that the crystal was formed under high pressure (hard work, dedication, boldly speaking the truth, fearless), even where molecules encounter more resistance (‘drill, baby, drill’; ‘we eat, therefore we hunt’; ‘quit making things up’). The more easily the clear branches (government transparency) accumulate molecules, the more fabulous the shapes take form”.

We the People are like magnifying glasses making it possible for all to see self-serving political agendas purposely hidden to the naked eye. We must magnify our lawmakers’ policies to a point of resolution where lines are not blurred but clearly defined and transparent.

Who knew such musings could come from looking at a single photo published by a liberal medium while riding a stationary bike? Maybe next Friday I will join the line dancing class where Britney tunes are blared at a thousand decibels. Who knows I may oops, do it again.

9-12 Truck Video

Thursday, November 12, 2009

This a video that LaDonna H. Curzon of SarahPalinRadio.com and I produced together. She did the interview, and I assembled the video. Art and Tina Wayland travel across America in this truck. Covered with 9-12 project information, they garner a lot of attention as you might expect. The couple support Gov. Sarah Palin and express it in the interview.

When you can, watch the video for details, and follow the 9-12 blog at 912truck.blogspot.com for interesting travel logs. They can also be followed on Twitter @912truck.

Sarah Palin: Pelosi "Health Plan" Should Be DOA

Per Gov. Sarah Palin's Facebook Page:

We need to be vigilant in investigating the ramifications of the Pelosi Health Care Bill. Some provisions sound so outrageous as to be considered impossible to fathom, but they’re right there in the bill in black and white. For instance, page 297 of the bill explains the punishment for not purchasing government mandated health insurance. If you don’t buy what the government considers “acceptable health care coverage,” you’re going to be hit with a tax of at least 2.5% of your income. And if you don’t pay that new tax, you could be fined as much as $250,000 and sentenced to up to five years in prison.

But here’s the thing: they have to make the penalty for opting out very harsh in order to force us to buy coverage. The only way to keep this government run health care plan afloat is for everyone to buy into it – especially young and healthy people. That means that they will have to penalize citizens if we choose not to buy a plan that will cost a minimum of about $15,000 per family per year.

The bill that came out of the Senate last month – the Baucus Bill – does just the opposite. It calls for a much lighter penalty ($750 maximum) for people who don’t buy government approved health coverage, making it cheaper to pay the fine than to pay for the coverage. (And with a recession on, who can blame families for not wanting to pay $15,000 for a government mandated health care plan?)

But here’s the kicker: the bill also forces insurance companies to cover everyone, regardless of pre-existing conditions. Think about what that means. A lot of people – especially young and healthy people – will just pay the penalty instead of purchasing coverage because they’ll figure that it’ll always be there if they get sick, as government has promised. That’s what will happen, and when it does it will totally undermine the very concept of “insurance” – which is basically a group of people pooling their resources over time to cover themselves for a rainy day, paying while they’re healthy so that they’re covered when they’re sick. Those who are healthy now pay for those who are sick. If your insurance pool only contains sick people, it’s a bust. And that’s what this government plan will be. Without all of those young and healthy people paying into the pool and defraying the costs, the government will have to pony up more and more money, and who knows how long the whole crazy plan will last before it goes broke – and our country with it!

That’s where we are with this bureaucratic mess: either the government penalizes people so harshly that they could be hit with huge taxes and even possible jail time, or the government makes the penalty a slap on the wrist and undermines the plan from the get-go. Forcing individuals to buy health insurance seems unconstitutional, yet Congress wants to foist it on us anyway. Proponents of government controlled health care will say, “But we’re made to buy car insurance and home insurance, what’s the difference with health insurance?” It’s apples and oranges. Auto insurance is a state law requirement, and people can always choose not to drive. Banks might require you to have home owner’s insurance, but again, you choose to own a home, just as you choose to drive. You have no choice at all when it comes to this federal government health care insurance mandate.

There are other ways to reform health care without violating our Constitution and our personal liberties. Let’s get back to discussing market-driven, patient-centered, result-driven solutions, like, for example, allowing people to purchase insurance across state lines, tackling existing government waste and fraud, and reforming medical malpractice laws (tort reform) to stop unwarranted lawsuits that force doctors to order unnecessary procedures just to cover themselves.

Please let your Senators know that the Pelosi Bill should be dead on arrival. Once we go down this big government path, it will be virtually impossible to reverse course. Let’s fight for the reform that makes sense for Americans before it’s too late.

Rubio says he would welcome an endorsement from Sarah Palin

Tuesday, November 10, 2009

From The Hill's Blog Briefing Room, Jordan Fabian reports that Florida Senate hopeful Marco Rubio would be happy to have the endorsement of 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin:
The conservative insurgent candidate challenging Gov. Charlie Crist (R-Fla.) said that Palin's endorsement would be more than appropriate because they agree on nearly every issue.

"I can't think of anything her and I disagree with off the top of my head," he told CBS News in an interview.
The former governor of Alaska has not yet endorsed a candidate in Florida's Republican Senate primary race. According to The Fix's Chris Cillizza, Palin spokeswoman Meghan Stapleton has said that it's way too early for the former governor to be making any primary endorsements, and her focus is on her nearing Going Rogue book tour and a number of high profile media appearances.

In the Florida contest for a U.S. Senate seat, Gov. Charlie Crist is the GOP establishment candidate, with backing from the National Republican Senatorial Committee. But Rubio, with the support of grassroots conservative activists, has emerged as a serious challenger to the moderate Crist.

"Going Rogue" Book Tour Dates Through Thanksgiving AND new Twitter Account

Monday, November 9, 2009

Per Gov. Sarah Palin's Facebook post today.
Here are some details of the upcoming book tour. I’m starting in Michigan and you’ll understand why when you read the book. Last year, I made a promise to the good people of Michigan that I would be back, and now I’m keeping that promise. (Michigan is near and dear to my family’s heart! Our eldest son, Track, lived with a great host family there during his hockey days.)

From Michigan, the “Going Rogue” tour will cover as much of the country as possible. I’ve decided to stop in cities that are not usually included in a typical book tour. For instance, I’m looking forward to meeting our honorable men in women in uniform and their families at a Fort Bragg book signing, and to reconnecting with friends my family made last year on the campaign trail in different book signing venues.

We have a tight schedule, but I’m working with the publisher to allow possibilities of stopping at a few unannounced places, too.

I’ll Twitter information when the tour starts, so I’ll post our progress from the road. You can follow on Twitter at SarahPalinUSA.

Below are dates, times, and locations for the first part of the tour – this schedule brings us up to Thanksgiving, where I’ll get to connect with family in Washington state for the holiday. Stay tuned for our post-Thanksgiving schedule coming soon.

Please contact each venue for more information. Can’t wait to see you soon!
