When I decided to write I wonder about a title, I came up with 68 days because I feel those are the days she did something that (if you read anything about her) she had never done before “she turned control of her political life, her personal life over to people she did not know nor did they know her, if they had known and understood her they would have known she need to be able to communicate in her way “ even if along the way she made a few gaffs. One understands that she did have to communicate John McCain’s views; she had to become the attack dog because through history that is the job of the V.P. candidate and she understood that point; And she did this well.
When governor Palin, accepted John McCain’s invitation to be his running mate, she was a governor who had high approval ratings in the 80s, She and the people around her had ran 6 campaigns (only losing one 2%) and won; in a very grassroots fashion. But the bottom line was she was in control and a small group of friend understood her and her message.
Was she naïve? I do not know, if she was it was because she had such a strong felling of trust and loyalty to John Mc Cain. She wanted to win (why run if you don’t) was she disappointed at the lost; she has said “yes she was”, But in reading her book and listen to her speeches I get a feeling that she was more disappointed in not be able to be who she was, to speak out from the heart, it might not have changed the out come of the election, but she would have been Sarah not this scripted person the handles had done their best to mold her into; for 68 days she worked hard at being who she was not.
What did these 68 days cost her? Some of it we will never know, but we have seen a-lot of it played out like a movie. We saw as she came back to the state she loves on a cold November night to changed attitudes and environment. She was no longer the governor with approval ratings in high 80s; blogger felt they could and would say the most despicable and malicious remarks and comments their little minds could come up with; it did not have to be true, they were just out to get her. They used that beautiful baby by photoshoping his face, they hit her with ethic complaints (just to do it, but mostly to break her).
In the end she could no longer govern, it was costing her state money just to have her as their governor, not to mention the cost to her family; with her faith in God and the man (Todd) who has always been at her side; she knew with as servants heart what she had to do, she resigned the office of governor, she walked away, knowing it was best for “The State Of Alaska”. The question reminds how much did those 68 days cost her.
When I started writing I had intended to write about all of the blogging going around in the LSM and the Internet about why she did not speaking at CPAC; why did she decide to speak at The Tea Party Convention, but having read some of the pro- Palin blogs they are doing a good job of the explanation and slap downs that are needed; much better than I ever could.
But in my on way I think I did say why she is not speaking at CPAC but will be speaking at other events; she is in control of political life and she will speak where she wants, when she wants and will say what she wants; she will not be told to sit down and shut up. She understands the meaning of “We The People”.
If I know anything for sure, Sarah from Alaska is in control; when she writes or speaks, you hear or read her views, her voice. The Message will not come from a scrip full of someone else's words. She will speak from the heart of Sarah from Alaska; because as she said "forever I'll be Sarah from Alaska.
